“The Moment” Has Arrived!

Exactly as I pictured: absolutely fantastic. And with words.

Happy 2012, everyone!

I hope things are off to a terrific start. So far, I’m loving the new year. For example: on 1/4, the greatest collection of 125 stories came into this world . . . and I’m honored and excited to say that one of those essays is mine.

From Smith Magazine, (the creators of the bestselling Six-Word Memoirs) comes The Moment, a collection of personal stories from 125 writers both famous and obscure (to answer your question: they didn’t have enough room in the title for “and one fabbbbuullloooussss Polish-American with great bangs”), revealing how a single instant changed their lives forever. An innocuous decision, an unforeseen accident, a chance conversation, a tag sale, a terrorist strike, a tweet . . . sometimes all it takes is a single moment to redirect the course of an entire life. I wrote a piece about how running, as in literally putting one foot in front of another, got me out of a horrible place. But that’s all I’ll tell you about it, because I want you to buy the book and read it!

Q: What has two thumbs and emptied the Park Slope B&N out of these puppies? Answer: THIS GAL.

And if you can’t read, that’s totally fine. Just come to NYC on Monday, January 10th, where I’ll be reading alongside some other mindblowingly great writers from the book at McNally Jackson. See below!
